It was found in 332 B.C by Chandraguta Maurya, who had overthrown the Nanda dynasty and rapidly expanded his power westward across central and western India taking advantage of the distriputions of local powers in the wake of the withdrawl westward by Alexander the great Greek and persian armies. By 320 BCE, the empire that occupied northwestern, defeating and conquering the satraps, left by Alexander. The indo-Austrailian plate is still moving at 67 mm per year, and over the next 10 million years, it will travel about 1,500 km into Asia. About 20 mm per year of the India-Asia convergence is absorbed by thrusting along the Himilyas rising by about 5 mm per year, making them geologically active. The movement of the Indian plate into the Asian plate also makes this region seismically active, leading the earthquakes to time. The climate of this district is characterized by general dryness,a hot summer and bracing cold season, May and June are generally the hottest months in the year with the daily minimum at about 25 degrees celcies. The heat in the summer season is intense. The maximum temperature may often go above 47 degrees celcius on some days. January is generally the coldest months with mean daily maximum at about 20 degrees celcius and the mean maximum at about 7 degrees celcius. In the region the animals there were are mostly Elephants cause they would use them for transportation.
